Wedding Wednesday: Ceremony Venue Top Pick in California

Today, I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ceremony venues: ours. Because many of our guests were coming from out of state, we wanted them to get the whole California experience. So what better location than a glass chapel overlooking the Pacific Ocean. If you haven’t guessed – it’s  the Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Known as the “glass church,” it was built by architect Lloyd Wright, Frank Lloyd Wright’s son. We loved everything about this chapel. The architecture inside speaks for itself and needs very minimal touches. In fact, they will only let you use their preferred vendor for flowers because this particular vendor knows how to work around causing any damage to the pews. The pews are wooden, which adds to the charm.

They provide the minister, music and a day-of coordinator. They also have a bride’s room you can access right before the wedding (hair and makeup must be complete before you arrive). Now, one thing to note about this particular location: your photographer must follow their rules. There are only certain locations inside the chapel that your photographer will be allowed to shoot from. Because of this reason, we picked a photographer who had done weddings at this particular chapel before and the photos came out great.

Now, let’s talk about the grounds. The view is incredible, as the chapel sits on a cliff above the Pacific Ocean. The chapel has a beautiful flower garden and beautiful trees arching the walkways. Some of my favorite pictures from our wedding came from the grounds at Wayfarer’s Chapel.

Price. The price was actually fairly moderate. The price for this chapel was worth every penny- and it’s a tax write-off because it is technically considered a donation. They were organized and kept me on track through the entire process. As I mentioned above, they provide the minister, music and a day-of coordinator. They also require you to have a couple of meetings with the coordinator to make sure everyone is on the same page. Because we were coming from Texas, we made sure to plan these meetings around previously-scheduled visits.

If you live in California – or are planning an out-of-state wedding, this ceremony venue comes highly rated!

Please keep sending me some of your favorite ceremony venues, and I will highlight in a future post.
