Wedding Wednesday: Glass Cathedral Venue

We are all about the glass wedding chapels this month! Since we highlighted the Wayfarer’s Chapel in California last week, we couldn’t skip talking about the Thorncrown Wedding Chapel in Arkansas. This beautiful ceremony venue is located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and is one of the more unique chapels we have laid eyes on.

The Thorncrown Chapel was designed by renowned architect E. Fay Jones. It has won numerous architectural awards such as the American Institute of Architects’ Design of the Year Award for 1981 and AIA’s prestigious 25 Year Award. This is one you don’t want to miss.

The chapel, which is located in the woods, has over 6,000 square feet of glass and 425 windows. Let’s take a look:

The chapel seats up to 100 guests, and they provide a minister – or you can bring your own (which is great if you have one you are particularly attached to). Prices are fairly comparable, but be prepared to pay an extra $500 if you decide you want to have a rehearsal, which is recommended.

  • Sunday through Friday (1½ hour reservation) $850
  • Saturday (two hour reservation) $1200
  • Saturday (1½ hour reservation) $950

You are able to use the photographer, florist and musician (the chapel comes equipped with a piano) of your choice. Something to note: the chapel sits about 250 feet away from the parking, so your guests might have a walk a bit. We think that’s a small price to pay for such a beautiful venue.

From April 1st through October 31st weddings may be held either before the chapel opens to the public in the morning or after it closes in the afternoon. From November 1st through March 31st your wedding may be scheduled during any time of the day.

We love the idea of having an intimate ceremony in the woods! Keep the great venue suggestions coming. Email me at info@thenearlywed.com.
